Ban on Loud Music in Bandipur Resorts a Huge Relief
New Year celebrations in national parks can be calm peaceful and mind relaxing if celebrated without loud noise and crackers .From this year onwards, there could be some additional terms and conditions that you may have to follow in any home stays, farms houses, hotels and resorts surrounded by forests and Wildlife sanctuaries. Not only in Bandipur resorts and home stays but also other wildlife sanctuaries like KokkareBelur, Ranganathittu, Nagarhole National Park,Bandipur Tiger Reserve etc. So reconsider before you book your accommodation at Bandipur for your holidays.
Although there is no harm in celebrations, it should be in a manner that the consequences don’t affect the wildlife around the national park. It has been observed by the union ministry that some irresponsible tourists are creating unbearable noise in the wildlife Sanctuaries with loud music, crackers partying etc., they are also found to litter around the forest and water sources with non-biodegradable waste thereby causing potential threats to the natural habitats of the wild animals. This kind of unruly behavior must be strictly avoided around the Wildlife sanctuaries like Bandipur in order to protect the wildlife. Severe action must be taken on people who do not follow these rules.
The resorts in Bandipur reported that some tourists were uncontrollable during the New Year eve In spite of repeated request to reduce the volume of music that they played they refused to do so.
With increase in tourism during December and January, the amount of people visiting these destinations is on the raise, which in turn is disturbing the breading cycle of animals and migrating birds thereby causing imbalance in the eco-system.
Thanks to the Deputy Conservator of Forests Mr V Yedukondolu for his efforts in bringing Wildlife Act into action. According to this act, there is a strict ban on loud music and all other activities (in the vicinity of 100 to 200 meter) that creates high noise level surrounding resorts, farmhouses and home stays that are amidst forest and wild life reserves.
Bandipur being the hub for of wildlife and tiger tourism in the south is a classic example where the act is in full implementation with high patrolling during peak celebration season. “We will intensify the patrolling as the New Year eve nears and will not hesitate to take actions against the violators” were Mr V Yedukondolu’s assuring words.
