Methods to tackle man-animal conflict in south Indian Jungles

South Indian Jungles like the jungles in Karnataka, Kerala and in other states have dangerous wild animals which always give rise to man-animal conflicts. The problem of man-animal conflict in general is not only harmful to human life, but also for the ecosystem. Some of the two major problems which arise due to man-animal conflict are:
1.)   Damages to human property like elephants entering houses and damaging furniture.
2.)   Loss of Habitat because if in man-animal conflict humans also kill animals while hunting, it would disturb the ecological balance because if more lions are killed then number of dears would increase and which will result in deforestation.
Coming to the main point, how to resolve this man-animal conflict in south Indian jungles.
Tamil Nadu – Starting from the southern-most India, Annamalaicheri flamingo habitat of in Tamil Nadu which is in Pulicat Lake is facing threat because of a construction work. The government has though issued an order to stop the work; it is advised to avail alternatives for construction work.
Kerala – Forests in Kerala have reported to encounter frequent man-animal conflict when elephants have caused damages to daily life of human beings. It is suggested that the elephants should be sealed and confined to a particular area by proper fencing, and driving them away with by noise producing fire-crackers.
Other achievements – Creation of organizations like WWF (World Wild Fund) and other wild life organizations have helped to reduce man-animal conflict to a great extent in South-Indian jungles especially in Andhra Pradesh. To further resolve the man-animal conflicts, major steps have taken place like in Karnataka where no more private vehicles are allowed to ply in protected forest areas to control poaching. To complete resolve man-animal conflict, a complete profile must be built followed by an appropriate action.
